The Speed Project 2024

The Speed Project is a 340 mile / 547km invitational ultramarathon from Los Angeles to Las Vegas.

I was asked by Team Lemonade, a team of six female athletes and content creators from the United Kingdom, to draw on my experiences across high performance environments in football and mountaineering, and drive logistics and race strategy for their completion attempt as a relay team.

The team was sponsored by a range of brands, including Lululemon, Strava, Coros, Lingo, and Nutrition X.

In addition to the safe completion of the race, the team had to service content commitments to the brands, as well as undergo periodic testing to make a contribution to a research piece exploring the impacts of ultramarathon distances on the bodies and minds of female athletes.

The physical environments were challenging and varied, including desert headwinds, dry heat, rain and mud, and snow.

The team finished 3rd in the all-female athlete category, with a time of 50 hours 18 minutes.
