Football Australia

General Manager — Strategic Projects & International Partnerships I December 21 - March 24

International Relations Manager I August 18 - November 21

International & Government Relations Coordinator I January 16 - August 18

Football Australia is the national sporting organisation for soccer (football) in Australia.

The organisation is responsible for the operation and high performance environments for Australia’s National Football Teams, including the Socceroos and Matildas, shaping player development pathways, as well as delivering for the 1.9 million Australians who play football at a community level. Prior to 2021, Football Australia also managed the country’s professional football competitions - the A-League Men’s & A-League Women’s.

Over 8 and a half years, I had a wideranging remit, including corporate strategy, management of strategic projects, as well as leading the organisation’s international programming across Asia and the Pacific. This included partnership development with counterpart football Member Associations and Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade. I also spent a significant amount of time supporting the business’ government relations work with the Australian and State Governments, and working on select Australian National Football Team operational matters abroad.

No day in the world game is the same, and no job was too big or too small - my work saw everything from building a business unit that engaged 50 countries, being involved in successful international bidding and financing processes for a FIFA Women’s World Cup and AFC Women’s Asian Cup, keeping the leagues and National Teams operational during COVID-19, all the way through to proctoring university entrance examinations for players, and acting as a team photographer!
